Pick up at your accommodation in Cape Town within a 10km radius will be between 8:00 and 9:00 am before we set off on a scenic drive to the Cape Winelands of Stellenbosch. Travel along the N1 national road towards Fairview Wine and Cheese estate
Our first wine tasting will be at DeMorgenzon wine estate for a standard tasting. DeMorgenzon is unique in that they have musical speakers scattered across the vineyards from which soft classical music can be heard. They also produce one of the best Chenin Blanc wines in the region as well as award-winning Chardonnay. (Wine tasting fees = R60.00 per person)
From there, proceed to one of the oldest towns in South Africa, Stellenbosch, for a town orientation tour. Stellenbosch is the second oldest town in South Africa and is home to more than 200 award-winning wine estates. Stellenbosch is also home to the renowned Stellenbosch University which schools more than 27000 students annually
The tour culminates with our last wine stop will be at Marianne Wine Estate. Marianne produces some of the best Red Wine cultivars in South Africa. Here we will enjoy a Biltong and Wine pairing. Marianne believes that biltong (dried meat) enhances the flavours of their wine produced. Marianne's Floreal wine was handpicked by Chef Gordon Ramsey for Nelson Mandela's 90th birthday at Buckingham Palace. (Wine tasting fees = R50.00 per person)
At Fairview Wine and Cheese estate your tour guide will escort you to the Wine tasting area. You will be given the opportunity to circulate between the 4 Wine tasting pods and the delicious Cheese Deli, tasting six of the best wine and cheese produced in this estate. The Wine and Cheese are all available for purchasing. (Wine tasting fees = R40.00 per person)
As you follow along this route you’ll stop in front of Drakenstein Prison to see the Nelson Mandela monument. This prison is where Nelson Mandela spent his last days of incarceration before his walk to freedom
Next, take the opportunity to explore the town of Franschhoek, known as the food and wine capital of South Africa. It is home to some of the finest restaurants and wine estates in the country. Learn about the French influence on the Cape Winelands and explore a bit of the town itself. Take a break for lunch (at your own expense)
Visit the Mont Rochelle wine estate owned by Sir Richard Branson. Mont Rochelle was previously owned by Miko Rwayitare and today, there is still a restaurant and wine label named after Miko at Mont Rochelle. (Wine tasting fees excluded = R75.00 per adult)
